60 Criteria
There are around 60 criteria for this as part of the Accessibility Improvement Act, which are divided into three level classes. They determine whether your website is accessible at all for people with disabilities, right up to an excellent user experience, provided you fulfil all the criteria to perfection.
Fines & competition
The law provides for a reporting and monitoring system for compliance with the BFSG. Fines are imposed for violations and non-compliance. Ultimately, the website or online shop may be shut down. As the BFSG establishes a market behaviour rule, violations are anti-competitive and can be warned by competitors for a fee.
